Peace Foundation
Who Are We
We are a polycentric association of politically autonomous institutions and organizations that have a common aspiration for agrarian reform, rural development and democratization.
Individually, we are a mix of women and men, of front liners and advocates, of old and new staff, of community organizers and line experts, of young and young-once members, of activists in Manila and in provinces, banding together towards the changing of the landscape of rural development and governance through an authentic agrarian reform process.
A social movement with policy agenda, PEACE Network is guided by the principles of voluntary association, mutual trust and respect, mutual accountabilities and shared leadership.
We will treat all members as equals, with dignity and respect to their individual members/staff regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation and other personal characteristics.
We are a community that shows willingness to listen even if we disagree. This means that we recognize responsibilities to openly share our issues, needs, ideas and knowledge.
We are a humanist organization respecting human rights of each person within the Network.
We do not use our relationship with other members for financial, sexual or any other types of parochial or personal gain.
We believe that helping and supporting each other is a true essence of the network.
Vision
PEACE envisions a just, dynamic, and humane society where every farmer, man or woman, is transformed into a successful entrepreneur and a responsible citizen. A farmer is successful and responsible when he or she and his/her household owns a sufficient share of land which she/he and her/his family till as source of livelihood. That way, he or she develops the confidence to become more productive and attains the leverage to network with others for the greater good of the community and the nation as a whole.
Mission
In attaining this vision, PEACE strives to be a gender-fair prime-mover in the following:
Formation of autonomous people’s organizations as structures of thoroughgoing reform and democratization;
Establishment of local non-government organizations that effectively assist farming communities towards sustainable entrepreneurship and responsible citizenship; and,
Strengthening of the national advocacy movement that effectively pushes for authentic agrarian reform, rural development, and democratization (ARRDD).
Goals
PEACE’s mission is realized where the following exist:
Strong, gender-responsive and dynamic rural communities with the presence of land-based grassroots organizations that have leverage for concrete gains towards improving their economic lot and political role in society.
Sustained rural activism by expanding and sustaining a corps of CO cadre that is capable of PO formation, grassroots leadership formation, research, advocacy, and organizational and project management.
A conducive national ARRDD policy environment borne out of a strong national and local-level advocacy work.
Values and Philosophy
PEACE’s organizational life is imbued with the values such as i) people participation, ii) equality and partnership, iii) action and reflection, iv) commitment to serve, and v) ecumenism.
Our day-to-day life will be guided by the following philosophy: Think and act together, with and for the rural poor. Broaden our ranks, gain friends, to change the world.
